Implementing What Works for Work Strategies in Job Training and Work Experience Programs for Students with Disabilities

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, Office of Career-Technical Education, in partnership with OCALI and the Southwest Region Career Pathway Support Network, is hosting a professional development session designed for Job Training Coordination (JTC) Instructors, Intervention Specialists, Job Coaches, paraprofessionals, and any staff supporting transition-age students with disabilities in job training and work experience programs.

What Works for Work are evidence-based strategies focused on strengthening employment readiness, independence, and workplace success for young adults with disabilities. This session will help participants understand and apply key strategies – including the use of apps, visual schedules, and computer-assisted instruction – to enhance learning, task completion, and student preparation for competitive, integrated employment.

Participants will move from learning to implementation through guided discussion, real-world examples, structured planning time, and technical assistance to incorporate new strategies into and work-based learning activities.  Documentation of four contact hours provided upon full completion of the session.

Date: October 23, 2026

Time: 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. with 1 hour lunch break (Lunch on your own.)
