Microschools Powered by PAST
Paige Shalter-Bruening, Ph.D. and Kathy Wright, EMBA, M.Ed., Co-Directors of Educator Experiences for PAST Foundation, will share how Microschools powered by PAST are reimagining college and career readiness by blurring the lines between high school, postsecondary education, and the workforce through integrated, credit-bearing pathways in high-demand fields, including medicine and biotechnology, information technology, and aviation technology. Through deep partnerships with higher education and industry, students engage in rigorous college-level coursework, earn stackable and industry-recognized credentials, and participate in work-based learning experiences and mentorship that connect classroom learning to real-world career opportunities. These microschools offer an inclusive, research-and-development-oriented environment that advances educational equity while building sustainable regional talent pipelines in critical workforce sectors. This presentation will focus on the development and insights gained from the Year One implementation of the Innovations in Medicine and Biotechnology Microschool Powered by PAST.
Ohio’s Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP)
Erin Hart, Strategy Director for Ohio Health Care Association, will provide an overview of upcoming rule changes to Ohio’s NATCEP, highlighting key compliance updates and implementation timelines. This includes the new flexibility allowing qualified educational institutions to administer competency testing for their own students, aimed at streamlining certification and expanding workforce pipelines.
Ohio Healthcare Virtual Career Fair
Hope Arthur, Executive Director of Workforce Innovation at The Health Collaborative and Michelle Collins, Workforce Development Consultant at Three 23 Resources, will share about how they worked together with statewide partners to create and launch the state’s first ever Ohio Healthcare Virtual Career Fair.
