On Monday, May 19th, the Southwest Tech Prep Regional Center (SWTP) partnered with Miami University Hamilton and hosted a four-hour student-focused Scrubs Day Camp. The Nursing Department welcomed 55 students to campus from Butler Tech Bioscience Center. Students were introduced to Miami’s areas of study-including the 1 + 3 BSN Pathway, unique programs available to assist with the financial burden of a college education, and connections to local key employers. There were 5 different hands-on stations provided to introduce healthcare learning opportunities. Students engaged in a stop the bleed station, a home health escape room, a student nursing organization panel discussion, a sim lab relay, a skills lab, followed up with a visit from Admissions and Work+ during lunch. The goals of the event included introducing students to potential career & education opportunities, making them aware of college credit opportunities while still in high school, and providing an experience on a college campus.
